New paths for a French-Jewish literature: Nathalie Azoulai
In "All of Théo's Lives," Nathalie Azoulai tells the story of Théo, a Breton man with a German mother, who falls in love with Léa, a Jewish woman. Their relationship, initially characterized by mutual understanding, is shaken by political events such as the October 7 attacks and the Middle East conflict, leading to estrangement. Azoulai explores the challenges of mixed-race partnerships and the complex interrelationships between personal identity and collective history. In doing so, she opens new avenues for a French-Jewish literature that is not merely retrospective but also addresses current challenges of identity formation and intercultural encounters.
